dc.description.abstractThe article, a preliminary result of on-going research, offers a critical and deep thinking on the social transformations that took place during the process of modernization among the Brazilian cities, due to the requirements for hosting the so called Mega-events. By observing, more specifically, the period between the planning of the Confederation’s Cup and the realization of the World Cup, aims to analyze the phenomenon as a contemporary and international enterprise, starting from the originated conflict between the security forces, but in particular the military police, and the protester, seeking to map factors that contributed to the development of new relationships, paying particular attention to the increasing role that technology has taken in the construction of the reality. Although similar events have occurred recently in other countries, the article emphasizes the singularities of the Brazilian episode.en_US

dc.description.resumoO artigo, resultado preliminar de uma pesquisa ainda em desenvolvimento, oferece uma reflexão crítica acerca das transformações sociais consequentes do processo de modernização das cidades brasileiras, visando recepcionar os chamados “Megaeventos”. Considerando, principalmente, o período compreendido entre o planejamento da Copa das Confederações e a realização da Copa do Mundo; visa analisar o fenômeno enquanto empreendimento contemporâneo internacional, partindo do conflito originado entre as forças de segurança, mais especificamente a Polícia Militar e os manifestantes; buscando mapear fatores que contribuíram para o desenvolvimento de novas relações e prestando especial atenção ao papel cada vez maior que a tecnologia cumpre na construção da realidade. Ainda que manifestações semelhantes tenham ocorrido recentemente em outros países, o estudo tem como ênfase o caso específico brasileiro.en_US
